Campbelltown Sports Stadium Funding Snub An Outrageous Decision

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren said the NSW Government’s decision to snub

Campbelltown Sports Stadium from its suburban stadium strategy was utterly

disgraceful.

The NSW Liberals recently revealed the list of suburban stadiums earmarked for

upgrades – however, Campbelltown Sports Stadium was not featured.

Instead, stadiums in Liberal electorates such as Penrith and Brookvale were chosen

while Kogarah was also named.

Mr Warren said NSW Labor built the Campbelltown Sports Stadium and had regularly

funded upgrades of the venue.

Yet, the NSW Liberals had refused to do likewise.

He urged the government to reconsider its strategy and to provide funding for

Campbelltown Sports Stadium upgrades.

“It is a baffling and bizarre decision to snub Campbelltown Sports Stadium,” Mr Warren

said.

“The Macarthur region is the fastest growing region in the state, yet it is continually

overlooked by this government.

“NSW Labor has a proud history regarding Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

“We built it and have continually invested in it – but the NSW Liberals have refused to

do likewise.

“There is a strong case for an upgraded Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

“There is a train station right on the door step of the stadium and the M5 Motorway is

just a stone’s throw away too.

“The A-League’s newest side, Macarthur Bulls FC and NRL side, the Wests Tigers also

call the venue home.

“The Macarthur region is the fastest growing region in the state and we deserve a sports

stadium that reflects that.

“We have the population, the transport links, the backing from professional clubs and

the desire – yet the government still refuses to invest any funds into Campbelltown

Sports Stadium.

“This government isn’t even attempting to hide its contempt of our community.”
