There are not many scenes like Waminda Oval on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon during the depths of winter. Why? Because the ground is home to one of Macarthur's most successful sporting clubs—the mighty East Campbelltown Eagles Rugby League Football Club. Every year is a big year for the Eagles, who are regularly in the hunt for premiership glory in September, but 2021 will be extra special, as the club, its players and its dedicated fans celebrate 60 years. The club was originally formed at the East Campbelltown Public School and home games were played out of Orana Park, now known as Campbelltown Stadium. The club has had a lot of success over the years; however, it will be hard to topple the winter of 1980, when eight of the 18 Eagles teams tasted premiership glory. I congratulate the mighty Eagles and thank all of the volunteers, especially Daniel and Tammy Draper.
