There have been many organisations and community groups that have really stood up in the past four months. Some have dedicated their days to cooking meals for those in need, while others have provided vital services. One of those organisations is Lifeline Macarthur. The recent lockdown has taken a toll on many people – particularly those in the Campbelltown, the wider Macarthur region and Western and South Western Sydney. The social disconnection that many of us faced really had a negative impact on our mental health. However, the dedicated team at Lifeline Macarthur made sure there was always someone on the other line to listen and help when needed. The staff and volunteers really are some of the most selfless and passionate people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their contribution makes an enormous difference to the lives of so many and that should never be forgotten or underestimated. I recently toured the facilities at Smeaton Grange and was able to thank many of those staff and volunteers in person. Once again I would like to extend my gratitude on behalf of the Campbelltown community to everyone at Lifeline Macarthur.
